BLASE

video installation

This work is a research in the way that human nerves collapse because of the protracted over-excitation that has been suffered. As a result the person feels blasé that means nothing new can trigger him anymore, nothing feels interesting anymore.
I present a video installation,  which is an assemblage of greek tv advertisements combined with famous contemporary artworks. The installation consists of 10 tv monitors and 2 projections. Playing all together I aim on creating an uncomfortable feeling to the viewer who needs to try stay focused in only one video at time in order to follow the work’s narrative.  This work comments on the passive vision people have for contemporary art. The sound of the installation is recorded chewing pop-corn referring the the over-consumption of information.
